Welcome

Hello Readers,

I welcome all of you to my new blog MedView. I had been an avid blogger in my medical school days when I blogged about cricket, motorcycles, movies and a variety of other topics. I took a hiatus from blogging for the past 9 years. I am back with my new blog "MedView" after this long break. My four main passions in life have been medical pharmacology and research, travelling, teaching (especially medical pharmacology) and presenting and discussing new drug therapies and research at medical conferences and events. I have been lucky to be in the field of medical affairs in the pharmaceutical industry which gives me the chance to follow my passion and at the same time earn a living. The major aim of starting this blog is to share my experiences with other budding physicians/scientists who want to make a career in medical affairs in the pharmaceutical industry. I embarked on the road less traveled when I took the unconventional decision of opting for a Ph.D. in Pharmacology in the US and not following the more common route of pursuing a career in clinical medicine after my basic medical education. There have been a lot of experiences, both good and bad along the way. I wish to share these experiences with budding medical affairs professionals.

Pharmacology is a unique and very important subject which one faces in medical school. This subject is a marriage of the basic and clinical medical sciences. In order to master pharmacology, one needs to have a solid understanding of physiology, biochemistry, pathology and the fundamentals of clinical medicine. I have seen a lot of students get stressed when it comes to studying pharmacology. A second aim of this blog is to simplify the common pharmacological concepts and drugs and at the same time provide updates on new drugs and pathways so that this blog can be useful for medical students, residents, graduate students and pharma professionals to do a quick refresher and stay updated.

I will try my best to update the blog as frequently as possible and look forward to your support to make this blog a success.
